automationX started in the early 80′s as a custom batching control package for GAW Process Systems. automationX and M&R Automation were founded by Gerhard Maitz and Herbert Ritter in Graz, Austria – the hometown of the famous Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Created as a grassroots development for local industrials, automationX found support with their local university and Austrian technology export agencies.
Most importantly automationX found more customers who were impressed by the performance, power and features of the software.
The automationX development project attracted some of the brightest minds in Graz. In the early 90′s automationX 4.0 development was carefully undertaken using sophisticated object oriented structures and database management techniques. automationX continued with the POSIX standard for performance and reliability. With built-in thin client capability able to execute on both Windows and Linux, automationX is well suited to mission-critical industrial computing.
Today automationX is a medium sized business employing several hundred staff. In a marketplace dominated by large-cap players, automationX 4 software continues to find new customers and uses, which is a testament to the resiliency of the software.
